Your Home Office – How to Focus and Use Your Time More Effectively

picture of digital timer for time managementWorking from your own home office is great! You have more control of your time, and more flexibility in choosing how you will allocate your time to different activities. Given all the things you need to accomplish, keeping focused is sometime difficult even for veterans of the home business scene.
Here are four techniques you can use for squeezing more productivity out of each hour. Note that this is not intended to be a comprehensive overview of personal time management, but rather a few good tips for making your day flow better.

Finding Time to Build a Home Business

Finding time to build your MLM businessDo you really have time to work on building a home based network marketing business? Think about this…how many people have started but never “got started”?
When the opportunity is fresh, and excitement is high, it seems that things will just work out somehow. Sometime, after the initial glow fades, the time to do anything with the business just doesn’t seem to be there.
The Real World
I recently spoke to a new downline associate who signed up about six months ago. This lady had very good intentions when she joined, but never got anything going. I asked her why. Her response was not surprising – by the time she finished talking about all her obligations and responsibilities, I wondered how she even had time to sleep.
Many of us feel overwhelmed like this. How can we really have time to build a network marketing business – especially if we have a regular job, a family, and otherobligations?
Everyone starts out in MLM or network marketing with a desire or dream…some want to earn a part-time income, others want to go all out and eventually quit their job. Why do other things seem to take up all the time? Why does everything else get time, except the business?
A Guaranteed System For You
Let’s assume you are a home business builder whose goal is to reach an income level of $50,000 per year.
If I give you a proven system that requires two hours a day of your time – and this system is guaranteed to build you a $50,000 a year business if you follow it exactly (two hours a day) for two years, would you be able to find the time every day?
I believe that most folks would say YES and would be able to find the time.
The Real Problem is Lack of Belief
You see, many people don’t start working their network marketing business for a specific reason. They lack belief and confidence in the opportunity. They don’t REALLY believe they can make much money with the business.
If this sounds familiar, you need to work on your belief. Consider contacting and working with those in your upline who are successful. Ask them how they did it, what it takes.
Once you have confidence that your MLM business can take you where you want to be financially, I guarantee you will find the time. Think about this, work out your belief, and go for it!

Moms Work As Network Marketers

Single and married moms are choosing to work at home in the field of network marketing since it allows them the freedom to make the money that they want. Network marketing is when you promote a product in order to make a sell. Most of the selling is done online. When you make a sell you will receive a commission. The commission could be up to 50 percent per sale. When moms work, they will work when their children are in school or sleeping. They don?t have to work an eight hours straight. They can work in the morning and until the children get home from school and again at night.
Network marketing offers moms flexibility. They can take a vacation when they need to. If they have met their goals for the month, they can take a vacation. When it comes to network marketing it is good to set goals. Moms need order, so network marketing is the right field for them. They can write down how many sales they would need to make to fulfill their goal for the week or month. If they happen to reach their goal two weeks before the month is out, they can take a break until the next month comes in.
There is no need to commute to work as a network marketer. All of the work is done online. The supplies are stored in another place. When someone makes an order, the products are sent to them automatically, meaning the company where the products come from will ship them out to the customer. You won?t have to handle any money. When a customer makes an order, they will use a credit or debit card. Any money that is owing to you will be deposited into your account.
A mom can make extra money by recruiting others. She can ask friends and family members if they want to get started in network marketing. The network marketing company that the mom joins will let her know how much she will receive when she recruits others. She may even make additional money every time the person they recruited makes a sale.

Tips to Guarantee Your Success in Network Marketing

While network marketing is one of the most popular industries to join when one wants to start their own business from their home, it is also one of the industries that has the highest amount of failures. The reasons for so many failures vary, from not giving the business enough time to not being educated enough on how the business works. Regardless, if you want to succeed in the business, you need to take it seriously. The following are a few tips to help guarantee your success:
Time Management
Network marketing requires the business owner to have great time management skills. The fact is, this business requires one to be able to multi-task. One moment, you may be working on a new marketing technique and the next moment, you will be talking on the phone with one of your prospects. You have to learn to stay in control and learn how to accomplish all of your tasks on your list or you may find your business is going to be one of the failure statistics.
Finances
You must also be in control of your finances. If finances are not your cup of tea, you’ll find there are many software programs that can help you to keep track of yours. You should always be aware of how much money is coming in, as well as how much money is going out. If you don’t have a budget for your business, take the time to create one or acquire the assistance of a professional to help you with this task. Once you have a budget set, you will be better able to plan your marketing strategy.
Education
Take the time to continue your education on the ins and outs of network marketing. While you will find there are many free online classes that you can participate in, make sure you include education into your budget. This investment will be one of the most important investments you can make, as it is an investment in the future of your business.

Your Home Business – Are You All Stressed Out by the Last Minute Rush to Meet Deadlines?

rushing to meet last minute deadlineAs a home business builder, do you sometime find yourself all stressed out because you reached certain deadlines on time, but did so at the LAST MINUTE? This is actually a pretty common event for many of us. When you are the master of your own time, and your own boss, it is easier to fall into this habit.
On the other hand, would you believe there are people who actually get a rush from the challenge of accomplishing tasks at the last minute? They actually procrastinate and hold off on things, sometime subconsciously, but often purposely.
They are the folks who’ll tell you they have to be under pressure to get things done, and they seem to be unable to complete tasks much ahead of the absolute last possible moment.
If you’re not the “I need my last minute rush fix” type, and you want to avoid being last minute on everything, practice these proven time management tips to make your home business run more smoothly.
  • write a “to do” list and put everything on it, including home business tasks and personal things you must attend to between business activities
  • put priorities on everything – make sure you get the most important things first and focus on getting them done
  • take action – all your dreams for your home business are dead in the water if you don’t take action and make things happen
  • take on the hardest, most unpleasant tasks early in your day – this makes the rest of the day fly by
  • take frequent breaks and reward yourself – focus on your home business tasks hard for an hour or two, then allow yourself time to do something for pleasure
These simple and (I know) often repeated tips are seriously effective. This is why you see them listed so often. They work, but there are just so many ways to say them.
So, avoid getting stressed out by last minute finishes and take action to put your home business and your life in order. Your body will thank you, and your increased productivity and income will reward you.

Your Home Business – Make Time Your Friend

managing and organizing your home businessWhat is a home business builder’s most valuable asset? Time. What do most of us think about time? We think there just isn’t enough of it.
Lack of time becomes our enemy, something to be fussed about. We start looking for ways to turn 24 hours into 30 hours.
As much as we want to, we just can’t have more than 24 hours each day. What we can do, though, is streamline our routine and recover some time that is otherwise lost. Here are some tips.

Focus on One Task at a Time

Multitasking is often necessary and can’t always be avoided. The thing to avoid is overdoing it and finding yourself losing efficiency by going in too many different directions at once.
As much as possible, focus on completing one task at a time. Do things in groups where you can get on a roll and get a lot done. For example, if you write articles to promote your home business, schedule a block of time just for writing and try to get two or three articles done in one session. Take breaks as needed, but stay on track.

Make Your Day – The Hard Stuff

Pick the things you dread the most, and tackle them early in the day. Get rid of them. Otherwise, it’s easy to waste time worrying about having to get to them later. It can be surprising how much time is wasted just by mental distractions caused by worrying over upcoming tasks.

Getting Across the Goal Line

At the end of your day, when you’re ready to pack it up, pick just one more small task to do. It might be something really simple, like sending an email to a prospect. Whatever you choose, do it then. A little extra effort each day will add up to a lot of time gained later.

Working with Family and Kids Around

If you work with your home business at the same time your family and kids are around, set firm rules about privacy. Take your business seriously. Find a private working area, and alert the family that you’ll be busy and “do not disturb” until you’ve completed your work. This helps eliminate distractions that can really kill a lot of time.
Finally, regardless of when and where you do your home business activities, take an occasional break. Even if you’ve been working diligently on something, take a short break at least every hour. This helps eliminate fatigue and helps you work at your peak.

Time Management for Work at Home Moms

a busy WAHM holding her daughterI was thinking recently about how difficult it can be for moms to juggle all the responsibilities of working a business from home as well as keeping up with kids, laundry, meals, and a million other little details all at the same time.

I found some good articles I’d like to share. I hope these tips will help you find ways to manage your time better. Sometime we need 30 hours in a day but we have to make do with 24.

Dealing with Email the Easy Way

picture of network marketer buried in a pile of emailAll of us with home-based network marketing businesses, if we do a lot of our business online, will have to face the problem of dealing with email. The more successful your promotions, the more email you will get.
As your “Inbox” grows, this can be both a blessing and a curse. The blessing is (hopefully) lots of inquiries from prospects. The curse is dealing with all the other mail you get that isn’t really very important. You will find that home business entrepreneurs get a lot of spam mail.
Quick suggestion – use one primary email address for correspondence with your prospects and customers. Try to keep this one private (don’t publish it on a web site). Create another address to use for everything else, such as signing up for mailing lists or posting on public message boards. This type of address will get most of the spam.
Here is a simple procedure I learned that might help you.
  • Check your email only when you have a few minutes to respond and deal with whatever is in there
  • Read the oldest mail first, and work your way up dealing with only one email at a time
  • Follow this path: read it and reply, or —> read it and do right now whatever action is needed, or —> read it and delete
Keep this cycle going each time you work with your email.
Don’t allow yourself to leave things in your Inbox, thinking “that’s interesting, I’ll take a look later”. I remember when I used to have 400-500 emails accumulated in my Inbox at any given time. Talk about a nightmare!
If the email is about something you must do but can’t do now, make a note on your calendar but then DELETE the email. Don’t let things stack up in your Inbox and get cluttered. Don’t create a bunch of folders to store emails that you “might need someday”, unless there is a really valid reason to do so.
It all boils down to dealing with your email as it arrives, and not letting it get backlogged and piled up. Try it – the reduction of stress you’ll feel is a joy!
